J. Douglas Weinstein, M.OM, L.OM, Dipl.OM
Founder of Live Well Medicine

In 2010, when I first opened the doors to Live Well Medicine, acupuncture was still a burgeoning field in Central Pennsylvania. In the sixteen years since, our clinic has flourished—treating thousands of individuals and providing tens of thousands of treatments to help our community reclaim their health.

What I find most remarkable about this form of healthcare is that it empowers you to take the driver’s seat. We view the relationship between patient and practitioner as a true partnership. Our role is not just to facilitate recovery, but to provide you with the tools to “live well” long after you leave our office. Healing is a collaborative journey, and we are honored to walk that path alongside you.

We invite you to meet our talented team of practitioners below. Thank you for choosing Live Well Medicine; we look forward to earning your trust.

J. Douglas Weinstein, M.OM, L.OM, Dipl. OM

Master of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, Nationally Board Certified (NCBAHM), Founder of Live Well Medicine LLC
Douglas Weinstein is the owner and founder of Live Well Medicine, LLC. Douglas is licensed to practice Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in Pennsylvania, and he is Nationally Board Certified by the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM). He works in conjunction with Western-trained medical practitioners to provide high quality all-around care for his patients. Before Douglas Weinstein was ever a professional acupuncturist, he was a patient. As a young man, Douglas had his first encounter with acupuncture when he was just 19 years old. Over the course of several treatments, Douglas experienced drastic improvements in his seasonal allergies and asthma, along with a surprising reduction of his stress levels. This experience inspired Douglas to pursue a career in acupuncture and herbal medicine and eventually to open a Wellness Center, where he provides the same level of high-quality care for individuals, who otherwise would not have been exposed to this kind of alternative treatment. Douglas received a Bachelor’s degree in Public and Community Health from the University of Maryland with a citation from the University Honors Program in 2004. In 2005, he began his career in the integrative healthcare field, studying acupuncture at the prestigious Maryland University of Integrative Health. Douglas received his Master’s degree in Acupuncture in 2008. He furthered his studies by completing a 3-year post-graduate program in Chinese Herbal Medicine. Later, Douglas received his second Master’s degree, which was a Master’s degree of Oriental Medicine. Douglas enjoys running Live Well Medicine and treating a wide variety of patients. He is proud to be married to a Western medical provider, which he says helps to balance his perspective between Western and Eastern medicine. Together, they have a young son, who regularly benefits from the wonders of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

Brian Lau, M.AcOM, L.OM, Dipl. OM, BSN, RN

Master of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, Nationally Board Certified (NCCAOM)

Brian Lau is licensed to practice Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in Pennsylvania. He earned dual Master’s degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, along with a certificate in Tuina, from the Arizona School of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Arizona University, where he graduated with honors, and he continues to maintain an active license as a Registered Nurse.
With over 20 years of experience in both Eastern and Western medicine, Brian has worked across multiple fields and settings as a registered nurse, and since 2013 he has incorporated diverse forms of acupuncture into his practice. He joined Live Well Medicine in 2018 and, drawing on his extensive herbal knowledge, develops many of the topical herbal tinctures used and sold in the clinic today.

Brian’s passion for medicine is rooted in family tradition. Coming from an Asian family of doctors, scientists, and acupuncturists, he was immersed in traditional healing from a young age. He grew up visiting local herbal shops in Los Angeles with his maternal grandparents, studying Tai Chi and Kung Fu, and experiencing traditional acupuncture and Chinese herbal practices—while also spending summers at science camps exploring the natural world.
His lifelong commitment to helping others began early; he earned his first CPR and First Aid certification at the age of 10. He has continued over the years to grow and expand the repertoire of what he is able to offer patients. Brian’s education and upbringing give him a unique ability to integrate both Eastern and Western medicine—yielding knowledge and perspective that few practitioners possess.
